5 pm newscasts?

I just happened to be driving through Binghamton at 5 pm on July 3rd, and, for some strange reason, had the urge to try and listen to the local news/weather as it looked like it was about to get stormy (and when I got to Owego, it sure was).

So I tuned to 1290, then 1360, then 1430, the 680 and came up with music on 680, and sports scores/sports news on the others. Whatever happened to good 'ol drive-time local newscasts?

It's only a guess, but did your smart phone lose connectivity? Radio news on the weekend: Clear Channel\Cumulus\Town Square=Abort.

Information seems to be a "morning drive" only thing these days. The local news market is underserved, but there doesn't appear to be a clamoring for afternoon news. Pity.
