Defunct Michigan stations

Inspired by threads on WI and WV radio, here are some stations that have left the air and are no longer licensed. Some of these may have never made it to air. Asterisks indicate stations that are still licensed, but I never see these stations returning to air under current ownership. Plus signs indicate stations that never made it past the CP stage.

Many other stations have changed frequencies, often off the FM graveyards

More defunct AMs I found:
980 WHAL Saginaw
1260 WGRO Bay City
1300 WASH Grand Rapids

Also WFDF-TV, Flint. They used to have framed pictures of the TV set-up at the radio station on Garland. I was told it only operated for about a year. Of course, by some measures, the radio station is "defunct," too.

830 WCX Detroit
1250 WBBP Petoskey

20 WJMY Allen Park (yes - actually did fire up an ID slide, but no programming - WMYD is a different license)

unk TV ch (20?) WPAG-TV Ann Arbor+

54 WTOM Lansing
58 WBCK Battle Creek
64 WBKZ Battle Creek
66 WHAX Flint

The now-WMYD license was originally for Channel 62, but moved to Channel 20 when WJMY went silent

WXON was actually on the air on 62 for a few years. I remember they ran an Indian Head test pattern before signing on around 3:30 p.m.(!)

Reception in my Cadieux/Harper Detroit neighborhood was much worse than 50 or 56, the move to 20 made them about equal to them, then WGPR on 62 (1975) was stronger than any of them (duh - they were about half as far away).

20 WJMY Allen Park (yes - actually did fire up an ID slide, but no programming - WMYD is a different license)

Sorry, but wrong on both counts.

Wikipedia is about 110% wrong, because somewhere in the past people made an erroneous presumption about WJMY and it has been perpetuated. An article will appear on the History of UHF Television website with the real story, fact-based, very soon.

Along the lines of this same topic, anyone know what's happening at Michiguide.com?

It seemed to be coming back to life in January, though since that time it looks like its gone dormant again.
