007 Back Again On The Radio

The art of radio drama is still alive in the UK. Saturday, May 03, BBC Radio4 will present a radio adaptation of "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." This is the fifth BBC adaptation for radio of a James Bond novel (following "You Only Live Twice," "Dr. No", "Goldfinger," and "From Russia With Love"). "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" is considered one of the better Ian Fleming James Bond novels and the earlier two radio versions have been very faithful to the book. "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" became the movie without Sean Connery but with Connery would probably have been one of the better films, as well. The program airs at 9:30 Eastern Time and will be available on demand during the following week.

Enjoy with a vodka martini, shaken, not stirred.

The whole of the film makes it my favorite. Lazenby, however, could have been replaced with a cardboard cutout of Connery, and it would have still worked.
