New CHR on the Gulf Coast

It's called 95.3 Gorilla. Don't know when the debuted, but their website (www.953gorilla.com) says they're playing 10,000 songs in a row.

This gives the MS Gulf Coast a much more powerful CHR in terms of signal strength--something they haven't had since Power 95 in the early 2000s left the format.

With a name like Gorilla and the competing 107.1 the Monkey, radio on the Gulf Coast has gone ape s***! We'll see who'll be the top banana down there.

Gorilla was actually launched on April 1st. Most dismissed it as an April Fools joke but it's here to stay. I've seen them advertise looking for a live night jock.
