Froggy 99.9 opens the door to new competitors in Fargo

A shake-up is going down in Fargo. Froggy 99.9, through their passive efforts, has presented an opening for competition, with limited marketing and promotions, poor morning show choice, and a failure to continue with We Fest (the biggest and oldest country festival in the region). Bob 95 is leading the pack with a recent win over Froggy's former domination. Country, the largest format segment of listeners in Fargo is being attacked by an increased effort by the two smaller country stations as well.

Thunder Country, started things off by taking We fest away from Froggy 99.9 by making a bigger offer to the WE fest folks. This offer is in the low 6 figures that Thunder will pay to We Fest. They have also put up billboards in town.

The other competitor to toss a hat in the ring is 103.9 the Truck. They have polished up their act in several ways. They only play wave files now and have a much better sound and improved processing. They have implemented a very hot sounding jingle package. They have added the Ben and Jim morning show, former market leaders in Fargo and several other larger markets. They have done a huge billboard campaign, capitalizing on the addition of Ben and Jim and they have have a very active social media campaign currently in process and many internet articles and a big splash in the Fargo Forum http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/432214/. Additionally, Ben and Jim have brought in an experienced Producer and air talent, Bromo, from San Diego. Bromo has worked for 2 of the country's biggest morning shows and was with KGB FM's Dave, Shelly and Chainsaw show for 10 years.

This is going to be an interesting battle.

Jim Babbitt;
Nice gratuitous self promotion.
Stick with Dial Global and hire Jay Thomas and put him on the air.
Then we can rid the market of all 3 and that low grade rimshot we know as the dumptruck.
