Rich Fout of Final Flight on 91.5

Rich was a former GM of WCVO here in Columbus. He passed away last Friday and I thought I'd pass along his obit.

___

Richard Cramer Fout, 62, passed away on April 11, 2014. He was born on June 4, 1951 in Marion, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents Aubrey and Bettie Fout and brothers Barry and Lon. He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Karen Tedeene; daughter Jennifer Diane Atwell; brother Max (Kristine), nephews Todd Fout (Ashley) and Sam (Heather) Fout and their children; brother-in-law Ken (Loretta) Hatfield, sister-in-law Peggy Meade, and many other loving family members. Rich graduated from North High School and attended Ohio State University. He became an ordained minister and spent his life reaching youth for Christ. He formed Cornerstone Productions to bring Christian rock artists and entertainers to the Columbus area and he opened HeartSong record store, which introduced many young people to Christian music and gained him the nickname, “The Godfather.” He especially loved musicians and enjoyed showcasing and promoting their God given talent. His knowledge of all music was encyclopedic. He served as manager of WCVO Radio (The River) in the mid 80s,where his 6 hour radio show Final Flight first aired, and was Youth Pastor at Faith Chapel in Reynoldsburg where he developed Hell Stop, a ground-breaking twist on Halloween haunted houses that depicted the difference between heaven and hell. In recent years, Rich continued his outreach through Final Flight Ministries, which included a Home Church, Men’s Group, marriage counseling, and the return of his original Final Flight radio program, which still airs on 91.5 FM and on Live365.com. Last August friends gathered with Rich in celebration of his 30th anniversary in ministry.

Rich loved people. He never met a stranger and enjoyed friendship and fellowship with hundreds of people locally and across the country. He lived to see many of the young people from his ministries have families of their own and follow his lead into ministry. His impact on people was enormous; his legacy of changed lives and hearts continues. Rich’s deepest desire remains for the local church to work together to usher in revival in central Ohio.

A celebration of Rich’s life will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 3 p.m. at The Rock Church (formerly The Kings Place), 7370 Tussing Rd., Reynoldsburg, Ohio 43068. (This location is significant because the original owners, Ron and Jayne Rohrenbeck, gave Rich the privilege to work with them in their concert ministry and later opened it up for his King of Hearts Club.) Pastor Matt Rice of Life Church Columbus will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Rich’s honor to Final Flight Ministries, Outreach for Youth, or Life Church Columbus in care of P.O. Box 64, Pickerington, OH 43147. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and therapists at Ohio State University Hospitals for their excellent and loving care, and to Dr. Richard Mason, Dr. Mitchell and Dr. Schmelzer, who kept a watchful eye over Rich’s heart for the past 30 years, and to their family and friends who have been so supportive during Rich’s illness and hospitalization.
