So our LPFM is almost built out. We are at the EAS receiver stage - one source is telling me we have to monitor THREE distinctly different sources for audio - one is JOX 94.5 in Birmingham ; a second is Alabama Public Television, and a third is the internet.

Source is telling me each EAS receiver is only capable of monitoring one source - - but i'm not sure I believe that. (that being said, i'd need THREE eas receivers at $2000+ a piece.)

Second question - getting audio from 94.5 is not hard at all, but from Alabama Public Television might be a trick. Are we allowed to say, mount a TV in the studio, and run the audio from the audio out jack on the tv?

Any help is appreciated.

From the owner of WRJM-LP - thanks!

We monitor:

Our local primary FM
Alabama Public Television
NOAA
and the net for our CAPS unit.

This is the radio we use for primary FM. You can the tuner and volume to the frequency. and it has a signal strenth meter.

Your EAS unit should be able to monitor all sources.

We use a small RCA LCD TV for APT and it works great

This is older model.can't find the one we have. Just make sure it has a audio out jack.

You need to contact the ABA for your monitoring assignments , your EAS CAP encoder/decoder depending on the model has the multiple inputs for monitoring. To monitor APTV, get a digital tuner, no need for a full TV set. An outside antenna is best to ensure a good signal lock. I hope this is helpful.
