WNSH 94.7 is a phony attempt by cumulus to say they air Country in NYC.
'The signal is poor in much of NYC. Antenna is in West Orange, NJ.
Plus most of the programming is from Nashvillle,
This is the future--- more syndication, voicetracking, automation. (by all radio companies). How sad.

if Cumulus Wants to look serious about NASH FM in NYC----- Move the 94.7 antenna to NYC. (Manhattan ).

and do more local, live programming.

Shannon left WPLJ. If WPLJ share & cume goes down ---- Cumulus could move NASH FM to 95.5. (and sell 94.7)

Where are most of the country listeners? Harlem? Central Park East? Brooklyn? Or NJ.

It's not a "phony attempt," because it can be heard. The ratings are about the same as WYNY 103.5 got with an antenna on top of WTC plus live & local DJs 24/7. But I bet they're making more money than YNY did. This is how country music performs in the city. That's why it's called country music, not city music.

Then Cumulus should portray it as a NJ country station---- not a NYC station. The signal is weak in many areas of NYC.

Has anyone seen any marketing of NASH-FM in the city or surrounding areas? I have to say that the design and logo use on NASH billboards is probably among the worst that I have seen in 40+ years. I know it's Crumulus, but this is indeed even a new low for them!

Cumulus should try to swap 94.7 for 99.5 & some cash to Pacifica. And move NASH FM to 99.5.

WHN, WKHK, WYNY 103.5, did not seem to focus on suburban listeners like NASH FM is now.
may be simply because the 94.7 signal is best in NJ --- not in NYC.
are they able to move the 94.7 antenna to manhattan or is cumulus too cheap to do that ?

Cumulus wants to say they have a country station in NYC. (NASH FM).
they can exploit that in Nashvillle & elsewhere. ( to make $$$$).
in several areas of NYC where NASH 94.7 is weak, hard to receive or is
unable to receive at all. Calling this a NYC station is an exaggeration.

This has been discussed many, many times. There is no easy way to move 94.7 to the ESB and for the immediate future would not be doable.

could 94.7 move its antenna to some other site in NYC other than the empire state bldg?

I suppose serving the suburbs & some of NYC is enough for cumulus to claim they
'have a NYC country station. But, there are areas in NYC where the signal is very poor
or cannot be heard at all. (such as the east side of manhattan where the signal is blocked by tall buildings.)

They are no different than other stations all around the country that have weak signals in their nearby big city and still choose to identify as being in that city.

If it could, it would be at a reduced power for its class due to the short spacing with Long Island and Springfield.

In any case, the potential audience is not in Manhattan and the boroughs but out on Long Island... where spacing issues will not allow it to go.

West Orange is well inside the New York City metro. It's is "home" to New York by long-standing Nielsen / Arbitron standards.

They keep having events on Long Island...someone must be listening out there!

Yes, it has a bit of a signal out there. It ranks 24th on 12+ in Nassau Suffolk. The issue is that the signal is not as good as the ESB signals and does not get as far out on the island.

or cannot be heard at all. (such as the east side of manhattan where the signal is blocked by tall buildings.)

I recall this was also a problem for WYNY 103.5 when its transmitter was on top of the WTC. The frequency was licensed to Lake Success, and had to power down to move the antenna to NYC. The lower power and the increased height hurt penetration into buildings on Manhattan.

The West Orange transmitter is only 10 miles outside NYC. It's not like they're broadcasting from Trenton and calling it a NYC station.

are you sure its antenna is only ten miles west of NYC? 94.7 has serious signal
problems in some NYC areas.
