I love the Urban AC format and seek it out whenever and wherever I travel. But why do so many of these stations insist on breaking format on weekends? For example, Philly and Baltimore each have excellent Urban AC stations. But on Saturday night, the Urban AC gives way to dancy, rappy, hip-hoppy music that I hate and don't want to listen to. And both cities have stations that specialize in that type of music. In many cities, the dance/rap/hip-hop station is co-owned with the Urban AC station. I could understand this if a given market only has one urban station...but why this inconsistency in markets with various flavors of urban radio?
The only Urban AC station that I've heard so far that is consistent is WHUR in Washington, D.C. The last time I was in that area on a weekend, WHUR ran the Quiet Storm (slow jams) on Saturday night, as it does during the week.
