Gulch Radio Jerome is going LPFM

Ha - first post in the revived radiodiscussions.com Arizona page. Gulch Radio Jerome, long time internet streaming station and Part 15 AM on 1670 got a construction permit for 100.5 FM for 18 big watts (a mini-flame thrower). Equipment is on order, our consultant< RD's Ironbear is busy doing this and that and we hope to be on the air by mid March!

Hello Verde Valley!

Rick informed me this morning that the FCC has approved the call letters he asked for: KZRJ-LP. It's an homage to Jerome's original KCRJ-1340, which was on air from the 1930's through about 1950. KCRJ was later revived by Lou Burke's Cottonwood class A of the 1980's, which is now KKLD. The KCRJ call currently belongs to a LPFM in Monroe, LA.

For anyone who hasn't heard Gulch's webstream at www.gulchradio.com, it's a great local community station, operated by people who love handcrafted radio. The FM signal should be good on car radios throughout the Verde Valley. Fringe reception in Sedona and Camp Verde inside buildings might require an outside antenna. We'll try to get KZRJ on the air very soon, with any luck. Projected air date is currently March 1st.

And updating...start date for KZRJ has been pushed back a bit. Rick should know more, possibly in a month or so.
