Should Congress launch Talk Show investigation?

We now know that call-in political talk programs are a fraud in the sense that for the most part the callers are voice actors that are paid to read a script.
Hope you can PROVE this.....
The US is supposed to be a free country that values liberty and open discussion on the issues. Instead we have an assortment of radio talk programs that are basically an advertisement for a political party. I just like you, believe that the media needs to honest with the public and if need be, they must be forced to be upfront.
They ARE upfront. Hosts like Rush Limbaugh pulls NO punches when they claim to be a Convervative. Conversely, hosts like Ed Schultz ALSO pulls NO punches when they claim to be Liberal

Many stations pull no punches when they claim to be Liberal or conservative in their talk formats neither

Try again
The companies that produce infomercials that employ famous personalities wouldn't tell us that people like Alex Trebeck and the Fonz are paid employees of the company if they weren't required by law.
This is comparing an apple to a carrot. First, infomercials are largely on TV. Secondly, infomercial hosts (And the companies themselves) pull no punches when they claim the host isn't a paid endorser of the product. The fact that its required by law is only a bonus

Try again
Using that same reasoning, Premiere Radio Networks needs to be forced by law to acknowledge that specific calls are paid callers. They can't deny it as they employ many paid callers.
WHY ??

If Premiere Radio were forced to do this, then it's only fair to ask the same of PACIFICA RADIO (Whom Conservatives have LONG claimed to be biased towards Liberalism - FAR more so than NPR)

Try again
The main national right and left wing talkers are well coordinated as a unit on a daily basis. The main ones regurgitate much of the same material. They’re getting paid millions to sell talking points. To be useful the call needs to be in agreement with the conservative talking point of the day. Abramoff emails had some references to coordinating radio when trying to influence politicians. Local right wing talkers often reinforce the national shows and coordinate with state and local GOP political needs -the same holds through with the left. Are they getting preferred topics lists and how are these coordinated with paid callers on a national scale?
You sound like one of those conspiriacy believers who thinks EVERYTHING Jesse Ventura says is true. Who should I put on that list next ?? Alex Jones ??
Your thoughts on this?
Yeah - You're A LUNATIC if you believe what you said above is true

What Congress SHOULD be investigating is THE CORPORATE INFLUENCE of political dialog & discourse on the public airwaves. This means subjecting people like Rupert Murdoch & the head of Comcast to public scrutiny. But THAT won't happen till the $$$ hungry politicians ON BOTH SIDES of the political spectrum are THROWN OUT OF OFFICE (And that's ONLY THE BEGINNING of what has to be done before such an investigation like I propose gets underway)

JMO.....

Cheers & 73 :)

The American economy is going into the toilet. Unemployment and underemployment are at the worst point they've been since the great Depression. There are radical terrorists in the Middle East beheading American citizens with hunting knives, and the idiot-in-chief spends all his time playing golf. The fecal matter is hitting the fan on issues of severe importance all over the country...

...and some idiot wants Congress to waste time holding hearings about whether or not "Hot Talk" radio shows are using fake callers?

Are you freakin' crazy?

While the President was playing golf, Congress was on an extended summer break, relaxing after passing no legislation. They took that summer break after failing to come to a deal on immigration, and failing to reach agreement on what to do about ISIS. The only thing they can agree on is the President has overstepped his powers, and must be sued. And people wonder why the public isn't interested in political talk radio. Must be too many commercials.

You don't think Daily Kos, Media Matters, Salon, etc would be all over this story if there were actual proof that all callers to conservative shows are voice actors and none are real? There are actual former broadcasters who work for organizations like Media Matters, looking for that one controversial thing that can be blown out of proportion. Nicky on WLW is likely an actor. Doesn't mean everyone is.

Do you scream this loud on the air, Skippy?

As I've said many, many times, I am an Avid Listener. I moved up and out of radio many, many years ago. Being a DJ was a nice, entry-level gig, but I had no intention of staying in any entry-level position. However, when doing either voice-acting or working in films or video, I am quite capable of conveying the energy and enthusiasm depicted in these forums through typography without resorting to screaming.

As has been pointed out by someone else long ago, the caller services are for comedy shows. Anyone who actually listens to the idiots that call most political talk shows knows they're not being paid.
