In 2007, Tokyo's J-Wave began to offer a separate internet stream called "Brand New J." Brand New J is an unusual mix of western pop hits, jazz and Japanese pop hits (J-Pop).
Copyright rules appear to be much more restrictive in Japan, and there are much fewer internet streams for broadcast stations in Japan than in other countries with similar populations. In fact, sometime in 2009, Brand New J became a stream available only within Japan.
