WNEW BOWIE 99.1FM NEWS LAUNCHES JAN 9 2012

99.1 FM WNEW will launch its all-news format on January 9. Until that date it will stunt with Christmas music.

I hope it'll stream soon. Most stations will stop the Christmas music today. But there are always a few holdouts that remain all-Christmas into the New Year and then change their format.

on dcrtv it says cbs is promising something exciting until the launch


could it be WHFS for a few days on 99.1 just for fun ?

I second a return of HFS for a couple of weeks. Humor us, CBS. Hearing the same old terrible Christmas music is not anything new...or exciting!

Reportedly they are now doing Bill Drake history of rock and roll as a stunt until the news starts

I see what you're getting at, Mike... but Howard Stern's birthday is January 12th, not the 9th. : Besides, I don't think CBS has wanted anything to do with him for the last half-dozen years or so...

I remember when WASH would play "The History of Rock and Roll" back in the "WASH With The Stars" day. It was really wild hearing Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" on WASH.

This is good stuff. I'm not really in favor of lumping disco in with rock as this early 80's version does, but it is comprehensive.

I'm still hoping the wheel of stunts will land elsewhere after New Years. It will have repeated 3 times by then. Although this is not bad radio, to be honest.
