What exactly is the Behind the Mike Show you ask? In our five years of broadcasting, we have brought you independent music guests such as Samantha Gibb and the Cartel, the Fifth Dimension, Danika Holmes, Pete Britto. We have brought you comedians like Dave Coyne, Brian Scolaro and Jason Dudey, as well as a lot of other topics as well.
It's always fresh and invigorating. This Sunday, Halloween, we will be doing our special Halloween show with pop culture mogul Rob Weiner. Rob works as Associate Humanities Librarian and Liaison for the College of Visual Arts and Sciences and the Librarian of Film Studies at Texas Tech University and that is a lot to do; however, Rob finds time to have been involved in seven different publications on pop culture and horror. For Halloween, we will have some morbid discussions with Rob about Horror Movies, Graphic Novels & Comics.
Behind the Mike streams primarily over the Internet live as well as a few terrestrial AM/FM stations on a delayed podcast distribution basis. We can also handle live feeds provided the affiliate can relay either a Shoutcast stream *OR* shortly our network will support the Barix Instreamer/Exstreamer combination as well. Our shows air Sundays and Tuesdays in the evening. The Sunday show is a 2 hour show which runs from 8-10 pm Eastern and the Tuesday show is a 1 hour show which runs from 9-10 pm Eastern time.
*** Note There WILL be a slight programming change on Tuesday November 2, 2010, Election Day, where the Tuesday night show WILL be a 2 hour show hosted by us and broadcast across multiple networks ***.
Should you wish to carry that show live, the connection instructions will remain the same as any of our shows. We would appreciate however knowing you intend to do so..
Stream rate and connection info:
The Behind the Mike Show streams to broadcast affiliates using a Shoutcast server which streams at the bit rate of 160k in full stereo sound. Why stereo for a talk show you ask? Simple answer is mono signals do not carry the dynamic range that stereo signals do. From time to time, Behind the Mike features musical independent artists and we feature at least one if not two of their songs during the course of the interview. Why only indie and not commercial artists? While our primary broadcast point, Reality One Radio is Baltimore, Maryland is fully licensed to play any type of music or other programming, many of our affiliates must adhere to the non-commercial/indie music barrier due to legal and licensing restrictions.
