There already is an edge active rock station in the Bay Area (or at least the east bay) http://www.kvhs.com/
As for making KPFA KGO-FM, that would be a great idea, but all the hippies would raise hell about it, plus Pacifica has probably never sold any stations. As for 105.3 The Fan, I would love to see an FM Sports Station, but I would rather it be either ESPN or a simulcast of KNBR.

Here's MY SF radio dial
92.7-Dance
93.3-The Wave, Soft AC/SJ
94.1-KGO-FM
94.9-WiLD 94.9
95.7-KNBR-FM
96.5-KOIT
97.3-KCBS Simulcast
98.1-KISS-FM
98.9-Estero Sol
99.7-KFRC Classic Hits
100.7-ESPN Radio
101.3-K-101 Hot AC
102.1-KDFC
102.9-KBLX
103.7-KABL Adult Standards
104.5-KFOG
105.3-Amp 105.3 CHR
106.1-Active Rock
106.9-KYA Classic Hits
107.7-The Bone, CLASSIC Rock

You're leaving out all kinds of music. I'd like to be able to hear a KPIG-FM (an AAA format), a station the plays modern jazz (not the jazz standards you hear on KCSM), one that plays Western music, another that plays beautiful music (like the original KABL), a station specializing in world music, another that specializes in Middle Eastern music. Perhaps one that does Indian music, maybe Bollywood style.

There's so much stuff out there that isn't heard on the dial and not in your perfect radio world, either.

Maybe it's time for me to start Internettin' this stuff...

Tried to cover a few missing formats...and a couple of south bay stations tossed in.

92.3 KSJO - Rock
92.7 KJAZ - Jazz/Modern Jazz
93.3 KYA-FM - Oldies
94.1 KPFA - Can't mess with that one
94.9 KSAN - Classic Rock
95.7 KBWF - Country AND Western
96.5 KOIT - Current Format
97.3 KCBS - Simulcast of 740
98.1 KABL - Standards or BM
98.5 KOME - Rock
98.9 K??? - Repeater for KPIG
99.7 KFRC - Classic Hits
100.7 KBRG - Mystery Format
101.3 K-101 - Hot AC
102.1 KDFC - Current Format
102.9 KBLX - Current Format
103.7 KSFX - Dance
104.5 KFOG - All 10@10 station
105.3 KITS - CHR/Top 40
106.1 KMEL - Rock
106.9 KYA - Classic Hits
107.7 KSOL - R&B

Well, Modern Jazz would be on 93.3 The Wave, along with Soft AC, as for beautiful music, here's my changes to the orginal post
960-KABL Adult Standards in AM Sterro
KISS-FM moves to 103.7
98.1 becomes KABL, a part simulcast of the AM, the rest would be Beautiful Music (Gosh, this really is fantasyland now, huh?)
As for AAA, K-Pig would be on 92.3 in San Jose and 92.1 Walnut Creek (We have Waaaay to many Hot AC's in this Market!)
Indian Music can already be found in the Bay on KLOK
Also in my world all AM-HD would be shut down and all AM's would be in AM Sterro (I wonder what the guy that thought of IBOC was smoking :))

Two KYA's? I guess Its just like all those internet tribute stations :)

My favorite so far (aside from two KYA's; hey, why not three?) is 100.7 KBRG's "Mystery Format," which is, as noted, currently missing in the Southbay. Why nobody has picked up on that format here, based on its success elsewhere around the country, is ... well, it's a mystery to me.

98.1 KABL - Standards or BM

Standards, maybe. But who wants to listen to BM all day?

Who wrote that one?And has there been a call sign change at KVVZ 100.7?That's OK, I know KBRG is really 100.3 (Gosh Boss, you gotta admit that's a pretty good impression)

Here's my ideal FM line up:

92.3 KABL - (Adult Standards) Simulcast of 92.7
92.7 KABL - (Adult Standards) Simulcast of 92.3
