Lifestyle Talk 2.0?

I saw a passage in a recent edition of News/Talk Edge about KTMY My Talk 107.1 in Twin Cities,MN that has a Woman's talk format that focuses on Pop Culture/Gossip.I was wondering if anyone knows of any other stations that have this type of format?Does anyone think it could work?

Almost any format done well could work. Almost any format done badly is likely to fail.

Personally, I think that a Gossip/Talk format could work in some day parts, but not as a 24/7 format. Even if it's done extremely well, I don't see it working well outside of daytime dayparts.

If I had to put together a gossip/talk format to appeal to women, I think I'd try something similar to Delilah's show, only with fewer, more upbeat songs and longer talk breaks. With the right host, I think it could work. Getting the right host could be a challenge. Maybe it could be a vehicle for Lindsay Lohan to make a comeback.

I think what we are seeing are alot of adult stations are going to somewhat of this format. With the likes of Billy Bush, Ryan Seacrest, Matt and Ramona, etc. There are longer talk breaks, music is filtered in and the audience gets tmz type flare in between the music. I actually like it ;-)

It can work if done correctly. I would put one or two females on mid-days to capture the moms running errands and spending MONEY. I would also call Walter Sabo who has been consulting FM talk stations successfully for decades.
