Some notes:
- The band was pretty much a mix between Spanish and Catalan language stations. Catalan is the local language of Barcelona and the Catalonia region as a whole, but I hear more Spanish on the subway system (though there seems to be a concerted government effort to put Catalan EVERYWHERE).
- I did not have any luck with DX reception - everything heard was either from the local Casserolla or Tibidabo transmitter sites. The rest of the band was full of some wideband noise. MW and SW, on the other hand, were nearly noise-free.
- Unlike the US, stations here do not seem to follow clearly defined formats quite as often. Music stations seemed to tend towards a fairly mainstream AC mix. Los 40 Principales is a Top 40 station as the name suggest, while Flaix (¨Flash¨) FM and Maxima FM had dance formats.
- Often even reception from the nearby transmitter sites was fickle and depended greatly on antenna orientation. This seems to have some relation to the very high FM noise or intermod level.
====
AM will mainly consist of the standard Spanish national outlets (COPE, SER, etc.) as well as Rock y Gol. At night, noise level permitting, you will be able to hear stations from France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Algeria, Morocco, Germany, Luxembourg, and other countries.
