Well, I guess I'm a podcaster now

The newest aircheck has one less pice of equipment in line and is more clear in one way, but less clear in another.
The DNR/audio switch box died a slow but meaningful death a few days ago.
The DNR unit allowed me strip a light amount of hiss in real-time and then boost the remaining highs.
It will be repaired..In fact it's probably already repaired, I just haven't checked it yet.

Episiode 35 and 36 are through the DNR, Episode 37 was Feb 22, while the DNR is out for repair.

Two of these three have playlists. I'll try to make a list for No 36. I'm running beach audio underneath everything.
It's just part of my overall winter-mitagation program. Seems to be working fairly well this year.

I think this is the link for 37.

Tom, is that DNR box you mention an old Burwen DNF 1100?

No the DNR was an oddball thing sold by Rad Shack as an audio noise reduction system for use in viedo setups.
I think the problem was just a solder joint (which I fixed) , but I haven't even tried putting it back in yet.
There may be some benefit to leaving it out. But I DO miss being able to turn up the hiss reduction on the fly if
a noisy 78 comes along thats still too hot and hissy.

In the meantime I'm listening to the signal without any DNR.

Heres an aircheck from May 7th. I forgot and left the laptop plugged in during recording, so there's
some hum ( way down) in the recording, where there was none, really.

Very happy with the balance of music, reverb and microphone lately.

Microphone sounding better but I still have more things to try.

If I upload anything higher than 128k, it just wastes space and Podomatic's conversion down to 128k then sounds awful,
so I resaved at 128k myself and uploaded. Much crisper.

Still on the air, but I've been busied out.
I finally got around to posting 4 airchecks of a few hours from summer and fall.

Current playlist is around 3000 songs plus 1500 spots/etc.

I've been mostly working on getting a new job, but I did manage to put up a new aircheck,
which is sorta dedicated to to some people where I'm working now.

Number 44 is the new posting.

The new job did happen. Daytimes! 9am-5pm, 2 miles closer, but the airport's right in the middle of a direct path there,
so the drivetime should be about the same. Having a fun time getting used to sleeping at night.

Two new chunks of aircheck posted today. We're still on "beach background" even on December 30.

I'm sure it's been helping the winter here stay milder than it has been in 60-something years. :-X

Numbers 47 and 48 posted today.

More episodes put up in one hour chunks.

I replaced the failing power supply for the laptop that I record on, and that has definitely cleaned up
the slight buzz heard in earlier casts.

Spent yesterday hunting down a bad dc common in the main audio board, and found it, and fixed that too.
It had caused long-term volume changes, but not very often.

Well, it seems the previous problem truly is fixed, making easier to appreciate another problem in the automatic level
control amplifier, which is not misbehaving in the two newest episodes, 57 and 58.

In 57, hear Chris Matthews' sing "I'm not a Sports Fan". Recorded during this year's "Big Game".

Some spankin' new 45s. As in NEW releases... Danny and the Darleans, Claw Toe with "Girl from the Gas Station".

Two more fine trainwrecks to make your computer behave like radio used to.

Naturally, I can't list too many things.

I am still using a rather heavy amount of "Beach" audio in the background to help lessen the brutality of winter.

no 57 http://thomasjwells.podomatic.com/entry/2013-02-10T13_59_28-08_00

no 58 http://thomasjwells.podomatic.com/entry/2013-02-10T17_53_18-08_00

More new uploads. Dug out the plea from Ronald and Nancy Reagan to ot tolerate drug abuse anywhere anytime.
Of course, there are a lot of more fun things than that.

For those into Kookie, 64 contains "Kookie's Mad Pad" a KAZG fave.

Obviously, the newest, from today are 63 and 64...

OK this time I'm on mike a lot, and Im pretty happy with the sound overall.
Sixty Six just posted...I'm going to do a series on 1966 music only...or music that is so much in the style of the day.
I've skipped over a bunch and there's about 5 hours.

Real happy with the audio and the mix.

After quite a bit of time from fresh podcasts, I have been uploading new in the past weeks.
It must have something to do with May being "National Radio Month".
