For the past few days, I've been getting a station on 100.9 calling itself "WMIR"...it airs mostly classic rock cuts with short sound clips from old TV shows and movies inbetween some songs. No ads and no dj's as far as I can tell...the signal is pretty strong in Port Jeff and along Route 347 for a few miles.

I searched for such a station on radio locator and Google and have not turned up anything. Any ideas?

Middle Island Radio, been on for at least a year or so, probably longer. Can hear him as far south as Holbrook and Ronkonkoma.

Maybe they upped their power recently? I swear I've never heard them before, despite my habit of scanning the dial almost daily!

No, they've been covering about the same area. My mom usedto live in a complex over by Sweezytown Rd, that's when I first discovered them, so I drove the signal one day, got it all the way (spotty in some areas) back to my friend's apartment in Lake Grove. Was sitting in the parking lot listening to them. This was well over a year ago and I heard them just the other day in Holbrook.
