Veteran Western Canadian broadcaster Warren Henderson has died at the age of 50.
The assistant news director at 630 CHED Edmonton, AB collapsed and died of heart failure Tuesday (2/28/06).
The Dauphin, Manitoba native worked at CKRC in Winnipeg before moving to Edmonton in 1978.
Doug Rutherford, vice-president of news-talk radio for Corus Entertainment, CHED's owner, said Henderson ``personified class, professionalism, hard work and dedication.''
Henderson served on the national editorial committee of Broadcast News from 1992 to 1997 and as Prairie Radio Director for the Radio-Television News Directors Association in the mid-1990s.
He had suffered a number of health problems in recent years and was on waiting lists for both heart and kidney transplants.
He is survived by his wife, Grace.
