the MOTION, in PRO-Motion:

>Generate a buzz..no, not that annoying sound you
get from an AM Transmitter, but a real *WOW factor
that makes peeps wanna listen.

There are tons of ideas: here are a few, if u want more,
emaiL me.

goto [any free game site].com, and register an abbrevated
version of the station's name.. (Ie: phat_beats_FM) and
play what ever game(poker, blackjack, scrabble, yahtzee) and
as you play versus people, say oh yeah, its *MY* internet station : )
-And, if they tune in, take their requests..you pull this off right,
they tell a friend, and a friend...you get the idea.

On the website, post a place for an average listener to host
a show*(radio ppL, know 'real' people can't host radio shows)..but,
throw that out there..they voice track 4 or 5 breaks, and u plug
it into the broadcast..Now, they gotta listen. Most likely, they
wont have some thing to record it, soo they will have to have
their friends listen...Most likely, u may have to have them
call you, and record off the telephone their breaks..if they
are more 'radio-friendly', tell them..to voice-track/cann breaks,
and send it via email.

A variation to the above:
for some mix-savvy dj's..open up 2 hrs a week, for mix-dj's to
submit, free of charge, programming..say , sat 8pm -10pm ( est).
Now, u have some one providing (hopefully) another reason to
have peeps tune into your station, as you feature: "DJ-[name].."
and, of course, that guy, and his friends, will tune in as well.

Create another website, with your countdown ( create a top 10
countdown, if you dont have one) and inter-Link the two...
but here is the thing....when some one google's for example,
"top 10 hits" (or some thing like that, try to make it
so your charts pop up!!) and, they click on that,
leading a link to your radio station.

use the forums here (r-info.com/dance or r-info.com/chr) to
occassionally advertise, and ask input on what radio-guru's think
of your station..

Here is some thing YOU WONT LIKE:
but open up the playlist. Yea, i luv dance..but, i am not
gonna tune into the 25-minute steady beat of the Underground mix of
some one i never heard of..the west coast dj, ( dj-nightHawk--for example)
or the "phenom" (for example: dj-Hex)....You may KNOW that
(-x-ample: Dj-Player) plays the best in rap, but i dont.

LOOK, top40 isnt perfect,
but you know when you hear...say, the killers, eiffiel #65,
moby, paul oakenfold, you will hear songs that peeps want to hear.
Something with substance, flow and radio-friendly vocals..
Now, if a station vision, is to "dare to be different", or
"the station with NO Playlist" / well, mask it better. Still,
play the :10-minute steady beat mix, of sound..but, have very
slick jingles..or, drop in some thing to attract more of an audience.

setUp an aol/yahoo_IM:
this will gauge how many people are *ACTUALLY* listening versus
how many people turn the player on, and walk away..

Furnish some prizes:
Small stuff..but sell it in a big way. Goto a local shop/resturant,
and trade off..a free lunch/dinner, in exchange for -XXX-(a set amount)
of shout outs during a given time frame ( say a week). This way
in addition to the music (and hopefully personality) you have
some thing to give back to the listeners..and ultimately, down the
line, this continues to work for the diner you have established
a business relationship with, and you may be able to have him spread
good news about your station..enough where, you soon can charge
(a small fee) for the prizes that -they- provide.

do u have alot of problems with your site ?
If so, fix em!!! if not, then keep it that way.
What would happen, if average joey Jones, went to your website.
ANd clicked "Listen Live" / then, has to jump thru hoops..
download your 'unique' player..then, has to reConfigure the settings...
soo it is able to play on your PC/OS...etc,etc.
Or, every time, i goto (yourstation).com, "page can not load"
HOW MANY TIMES, (2 if you are lucky ) .. how many times, will
some one give u another shot? as i typed, you may have some
one check again, any problems, *NEXT*

well, i hope this helps, as i mentioned, there are a TON of
things you can do on/off the aire, that will have your
station, jammin...but, most important, listen to others. Ask
your peers, and friends, why they listen; what they like..etc.

Here is a penny for your thoughts: i typed this long input reply
to your post, and i didnt goto the website, why not ? well,
you tell me.
