Dispute between Cogent and Level 3 makes some internet radio stations unreachable to some.

Cogent is our main bandwidth provider, without a 3rd party source, and at the beginning of the week.. it was pretty bad.. but the past 2 days... it appears they have the issues resolved... crossing fingers and hoping they can come to a conclusion with this...without anymore service interuptions.

It's actually funny because Level3 thinks they can push Cogent around... and checking our servers... it doesnt appear that way at all.

If level3 succeeds in bullying Cogent into raising prices, we can expect a lot of smaller internet stations to dwindle. Bandwith is too expensive as it is.....

level3 should lower their prices and compete, rather than try to monopolize bandwith.

I think the larger stations would dwindle off before the smaller stations. It would just be too expensive to handle all the listeners. Another part of the industry that would get killed would be the EGI Hostings, Streamguys.com, MediaCast's, etc. The so called 3rd party internet radio streaming company's would be killed off.. which would actually be a good thing for this industry.. These are the one's preventing stations from growing.<P ID="signature">______________

Well....... thats true about some streaming services BUT....... Business for them would have to die first before they could die......and their business is Internet Radio.
