Our Lady Peace - Where Are You?

This song has a great hook. Should be huge. These guys never got as much attention in the States as they did in Canada. I think this song sounds great on Alternative radio. Not to pretentious like the onslaught of dance-alterna bands but not too redneck like all the dumb neo-grunge bands. What do you guys think,

Good band 10 years ago, but burned out now. Least from a Canadian perspective.

Haven't heard it yet. I enjoyed their first few albums (esp. Naveed and Spiritual Machines), but found Gravity to be a little bland. It would be too easy to blame the new guitarist for their increasingly generic sound. Hopefully they found themselves again on this new release.</P>

Yeah, IMO they hit their peak with the Naveed CD....although I enjoyed some stuff off Gravity, and I thought Superman's Dead was a strong tune. The new OLP is something that alt. radio should certainly consider. Haven't heard it yet but looking forward to it!!

Makes me reminisce about the good old days of MuchMusic...back when one of the local channels here in Cleveland carried it. Got turned onto to some really good bands like Moist, OLP, I Mother Earth, Tragically Hip, and early BNL. Awesome channel back in the mid-late 90s.

OLP has a new cd coming out )
I bet it will sound GREAT!
I can't wait to get my grubby little paws on a copy.

I originally from cleveland and remember when "MuchMusic"
was carried on the local cable system.
I was turned on to OLP Via Canadian radio floating across Lake Erie )

Remember 89X from Windsor and the rock station out of london, ontario on 95.9 fm.

moved out here to phoenix, arizona last year.
we have pretty good radio here too.
but I still like checking out canadian and british radio on-line.
XFM out of london is pretty good too.

i think that Phoenix has the best radio dial in the US, with no market even in a close second.

Thats what everyone claims, its still not "Radical" enough for me.
By the way Our lady peace's new cd is called "Healthy in paranoid times"
comes out August 30th according to there web site.

commercial radio is basically "Bland"
Phoenix has a good dance station and a decent alt. rocker
but even there kind of afraid to do something too unusual, for fear there listeners will go elsewhere.

its all about the MONEY!

if radio was more about the MUSIC it would sound RADICAL.
but then who would pay the light bill and feed the dj's and management and all the sales staff and news reporters ETC. ETC.

our world revolves around the allmighty DOLLAR, Pound, PESO, YEN whatever is relevant to you.
and until we can come up with a better system, then most anything is gonna have some "Suckyness" to it.

Matthew Good Band was my favorite from the MuchMusic station. Too bad they never hit it in the U.S.

I run "hello Time Bomb" on my station now and then.
Also Run, Edwin's "Alive"
and Tragically hip.

and you may even hear a "Stompin Tom" song here and there.
hehehe

I just previewed a copy of the new single "Where are you"

And it gets filed in the circular filing cabinet.

IT SUCKS!

What happened to OLP?

That's OK; Canada's about ten years behind this century anyway, eh? :)

I think "Naveed" was an amazing CD, and the band didn't know in which direction they should go. They chose to go in the pop/alt direction, but they reminded me a lot of the Cult on Naveed, and thought "Starseed" was an amazing song. And it holds up.
