Pirate jailed, TX/antenna seized under state law

This pirate station used a 4-bay antenna and nearly a 1kW transmitter, operating at an ERP of well over 3kW. The pirate's operation wiped out WMKL's listenable radio signal throughout northern Miami-Dade County every night for over a month.

The pirate operator went to JAIL in less than 48 hours after station staff identified the antenna location. North Miami Beach PD took down the station within 36 hours after being contacted.

I argree with this arrest B/C they were causing interference to 91.7FM "also operating on 91.7FM" but by the way how stupid can they be. lol and an ERP of 3Kw.

The FCC's enforcing as always been stricter than at a state level anyways.

I totally agree If they interfere and know it "and they ussually do" screw them.

I know of someone in central florida that runs an AM at 5watts and the FCC inspected him just plain left him alone due to the fact that he was not bothering anyone and really serving his little areas with good programming.
Even the local radio stations there help him out, BTW the inspection came from someone who was most likely has envy. I this cause I was there visiting the owner "which is a friend of mine" when the FCC came "and for info" they were very nice and even sat down and had coffee with us while a cheif of police was doing a show on how women can protect themselves against attacks.

But these damn FMers here in Miami are just plain nasty "fun to listen too" but really serve no perpose at all.

Its people like that, that are giving LP Part 15 operators a bad name, and they are the reason why they want all unlicensed braodcasters to be shut down. You need to get your (LEGAL) Dance station back on the air in MIAMI, and Kick some azz in south Florida.

Well part 15ers are legal though but I know what you mean cluber, that guy was told by radio people to get off and move. I even know about the 90.9FM pirate that was on before WGES and kept interfering with WGES but the WGES just asked him to please move and he did, and guess what he is still on.

BTW midwestcluber can you call me?

Good for you, guy!! I have had alot of trouble in the past getting the Call here in the Doral/Hialeah area, with pirates on 91.7, and 91.9...

It's proof that the ones that end up dealing with illegal broadcasters, who *think* they're combatting "corporate radio", end up messing with small operators, not the ones with big bucks.

Well, bossmsx I get the 91.7 clear in doral all the time. Also on AM some licensed broadcasters are breaking laws or better said rules and because of it they are interfering with other stations.

come on now, everybody knows that pirate was retard!!! he was asking for it.

even me with my with my part15 AM, follow rules so my station does not interfere at all.
