How About A Real CBS-FM Stream?

There are hundreds of hours of WCBS-FM airchecks held by collectors. I have over 100 hours. I know others who do too.

There is enough out there to put together a Live 365 stream of CBS-FM and rotate airchecks every week. All it needs is ten hours or less a week and it will sound good.

How about it?
______________

I would be glad to donate a stream to you, but I am switching internet providers on Monday, and I will not have enough bandwidth. I'd be glad to give you 5 listeners at 24kbps though!

...and then they sue you for fun.
______________

I assume your answer is more humorous than serious, but they will get a cease and desist order before they sue. Yeh, I guess playing airchecks of WCBS-FM 24/7 will interfere with their stream, though they are not selling anything with the stream right now.

Sounds good, but bear in mind Uncle Ricky got a C&D from Infinity for havig an old Stern aircheck on the reelradio site.

It has nothing to do with the current WCBS.
______________

So, gentlemen.. before you guys go over the top on this and actually put up an internet station, be vewwy vewwy careful. Streaming and Podcasting can raise lot of eyebrows from people who love to try and extract money from you even when you aren't making any.

Two of us are doing a tribute site with lots of audio.... trust me, LOTS of audio. It'll be ready soon. So, don't anyone go selling your airchecks (it's really unethical and not very nice). Instead if you want to do something to help remember CBS-FM - send em to me to post online. Email me to find out how.

And no, we won't charge for the site, either.
______________

I heard about that, but that was a Howard Stern prerogative. Everything that goes over the air is copyrighted and owned by the company that broadcasts. For airchecks to be played, we must "fly under the radar." If the owner does not like it, he can stop it quickly.

I guess most do not care.

I sent a list of most of my airchecks, the ones I listened to so far, of WCBS-FM to Thomas Lawler. I also posted them on the Airchecks Board. I will send a dub of any CBS-FM aircheck I have to a CBS-FM tribute station such as Thomas'. And I never sell airchecks, Steve. I encourage everyone to dust off their reel to reel tapes, cassettes and CD's of CBS-FM and send dubs to people who will put them on the net, so we can all listen to CBS-FM once again.

And thanks Steve West for all you do, to keep the memory of real radio alive.
