Earthquake coverage

What happened to the days when you had air personalities that had mellifluous voices?

This morning I was listening to KOGO when the earthquake hit. Notwithstanding that it was LAME hearing them go into a financial show with George Chamberlain and David Stern bellyaching and covering all of the usual aspects that one hears of after an earthquake happens, there was a female newscaster, Jane Clifford, who while she wasn't bad...sounded like she has smoked at least 1000 too many cigarette in her life. Her vocal chords had nicotine and carbon chipping and sputtering off, it seemed! When she would laugh she would end up into a Wicked Witch of the West type smokers cough.

What is really crazy is that I thought that Jane Clifford was actually KFI newscaster Leah Brandon who has a similar smoked out voice. Perhaps it IS Leah Brandon who subs on KOGO???? Any ideas?

For me the best newscasters whose voices are most pleasant is Deb Welsh, LaDonna Harvey on KOGO and Laura Ingle and Terry Rae Elmer on KFI.

I like Jane Morton too.

The 5.5 rattler we had this morning centered in Anza Borrego at 8:45 in the morning. It was a goody!
