Looking For Internet Soft AC Streams

This is a station I plan to check out after the Christmas switch: http://mradio105fm.com/

I emailed the station about certain current artists I like. They do have some and some they don't have yet.

Checking out this station now. Selections are hit and miss. Some are soft and relaxing, others are too upbeat/noisy/annoying.

I had mentioned that I would be checking out this station after they finished with their Christmas music switch. Beginning to check it out this weekend. As advertised, they specialize in playing 70's and 80's soft hits. However, oddly, every now and then, they will play Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars.
I found that the music service in my grocery store does the same thing. Actually, there are a lot of newer songs but the softer 70s and 80s songs are there.

My ear has been stopped up and it's hard to hear anyway unless I'm in the soup section so I don't know what they've done lately. Even where I can't really hear, I can recognize songs I know, but that hasn't happened lately.

I think that Bruno has a retro vibe, so maybe that's why the station is playing him.

This is another commercial-free Soft AC station I enjoy.
A few selections on this station are a bit edgier than the previous stations I listed in my previous posts.

This station has got me geeking out! They love themselves some of the American Idol alumni! They've been playing a couple of songs by Phil Phillips (season 11) and Daughtry (season 5). For Christmas, they play songs by Carrie Underwood (season 4) and Mandisa (season 5). They've updated the playlist with some new songs recently and now have a song in rotation by Danny Gokey (season 8).

The Soft N Easy station I mentioned just recently added All About That Bass by Meghan Trainor to their playlist. It's not one of my favorite songs on the station but I do like the message of the song, which tells young girls that you don't have to be stick-thin to be a beautiful woman.

While I like that the song promotes having a positive self-image, I just wish it were appropriate for my young daughter to have on her iPod. It's been apparently cleaned up for AC and Radio Disney (http://www.billboard.com/articles/c...c-radio-disney-are-all-about-that-edited-bass), however, the version available for download has cussing and other suggestive language in it.

I have yet to get a chance to hear it on the station, but I'm assuming that the Soft N Easy station is playing the AC edited version. I'll email them to find out.

Got a reply. It's the clean version.

Disney sometimes has cleaned up songs. "Mambo No. 5", which I like, had to be cleaned up for Disney but Lou Bega recorded a whole new version with Disney characters.

Mods - Please close and/or delete this thread due to some confusion with another list.

We can still talk about music that is soft.

And I have two more exmples of what I like which isn't soft.

On "SNL" this past week a 1984 episode had the musical guests Robert Plant and The Honeydrippers.

And while changing from one radio station to another I found one playing "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" by Queen.

This is another example of the kind of station I'm looking for but I can't use my media players to stream it: http://www.lightneasyradio.com/

Yeah, I used to have a workaround to access the Live365 stations on media players and my wi-fi radios here at home, but evidently Live365 has closed that loophole because now I receive error messsages whenever I tune into those stations via those applications/devices. Live365 wants their stations accessed only via their website and mobile apps so you can see the visual ads, not just hear the audio ones. :(

Soft AC I've just stumbled upon tonight. It apparently plays on AM and FM in Wyoming. Have yet to hear any commercials so far on the online stream. http://www.theofficeradio.com/ :)

This appears to be a part 15 station that is simulcasting on the internet. "Story of My Life" by One Direction is playing right now. That's a good sign. :) Which leads me to my next question/topic:

Most of the traditional soft AC's have separated into two camps: one group of stations, like WDUV and WFEZ, are using music from the 70's to the late 90's while a few others (such as Lite 99) use the original formula for soft AC 30 years ago...mostly older, soft rock ballads with a couple currents played every hour (or periodically, anyway). Just wondering what most listeners opinion are of the newer material? I have always ascribed to the belief that a traditional soft AC format should have at least some current songs in it per hour, as to keep it continually evolving and fresh. In your opinion, should the newer material be incorporated sparingly (as it is now), more played than what is being done now, or eliminated entirely? (Chimp, I know what your answer is going to be, lol). ;)

*I did say WDUV was of the first camp, but I was just thinking...I did see John Legend's "All of Me" on The Dove's playlist not too long ago.

Most over-the-air soft AC's I grew up with would do that. At least 10 years ago, on those that were still soft up until the late 00's, I remember them playing soft currents such "Breathless" by The Corrs.

Of course, the pros on this board would more than likely say something like: those stopping at the 90's are probably targeting certain demographics for their advertisements.
