Songs that segue into each other

There were a lot of songs that were played together and segued into each other in the 1970s. Are many of them still played together today? For example, I've NEVER heard We Will Rock You or We Are the Champions by themselves on multiple classic rock stations. They are always played together.

There were some stations that played only "we are the champions" without "we will rock you" back when it was (they were?) a hit. In the same way, some stations ran "the Wall (part II) without the intro (whose title I forget). But very few, if any, stations would cut them up today.

Back in the 70s, Journey had a couple of pairs of seguing songs that got a lot of play.
Feeling That Way/Anytime -- I never hear either get played now.
Lovin, Touchin Squeezin/City of the Angels -- no one seems to play City of the Angels now.

Conversely, Pink Floyd's Young Lust used to get played a lot by itself, but in recent years stations play "What Shall We Do Now" and Young Lust together.

I had to do some research to find out what this song was. A TV commercial uses "Sirius". And it is sometimes used as the introduction to "Eye in the Sky" by Alan Parsons Project. Which is so tame it now plays on the station I listen to.

"Jet Airliner" by Steve Miller is preceded by "Threshold".

I'm surprised no one has mentioned "Eruption"/"You Really Got Me" by Van Halen or "Foreplay"/"Long Time" by Boston.

Two songs that were never meant to be played together but often are: Led Zeppelin's "Heartbreaker" into "Living Loving Maid." There's also the several Beatles medleys from Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road. And don't forget the Cars "Moving In Stereo" into "All Mixed Up." Some stations play them together, but other's do not.

Those were mostly the top 40 stations, if memory serves. "Champions" was the a-side, with "We Will Rock You" (too short to be played as a standalone track) as the b-side.
In the same way, some stations ran "the Wall (part II) without the intro (whose title I forget). But very few, if any, stations would cut them up today.
I believe that that previous title that you are referring to would be "The Hardest Days of Their Lives" or something like that. It ran straight into "Another Brick" part II set off by only a scream. I would like to hear that entire piece, complete with "Another Brick" part 1, but that would be upwards of 10 minutes! I would also like to hear "Another Brick" part II complete with the intro, but apparently it was only that way on the single. Would also like to hear it with that intro and the "meat/pudding" monologue at the end, but that would probably mean creating my own mix of it.

I know this is more of a pop radio song but Chicago's "Hard to Say Im Sorry" which Segues into "Get Away"

and Def Leppard's 1981 Hit "Bringing on the Heartbreak" Which segues into the Insturmental Track "Switch 625"

Pink Floyd’s “Brain Damage” and “Eclipse”, the last two tracks on Dark Side of the Moon. Rock stations play these together as one track.

Those two are usually played together, but interestingly enough, "Space Intro"/"Fly Like an Eagle" usually are not.

How fast we forget! ::)
or "Foreplay"/"Long Time" by Boston.

I meant here.
The gist of that other thread is that those are two separate tracks (not tracks that segue into each other, as per this thread) and thus were maybe never intended to be played together. It seems that only you are fixated on this one, hence no mention of it by anyone else.
Nevertheless, classic rock stations DID play them together.

Again, this is your fixation. If classic rockers played them together, then good for them. I have never heard them played together, and had in fact, never even heard of "Eruption" until your thread. But then again, I am not a diehard VH fan. But I am a fan of playing extra "bonus" tracks together, so if they did that, then good for them! 8)

It's not a fixation. I would read that "Eruption" was the greatest guitar solo ever, and I would wonder, having never heard of the concept of "songs that segue into each other" beyond "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions", how anything could possibly be better than "You Really Got Me".

My favorite David Lee Roth song is actually "Just a Gigolo"/"I Ain't Got Nobody" (which also fits the category), so I'm hardly a VH fan.

You're right. It is not a fixation. It is an obsession. But "greatest guitar solo ever" or not, they do not "segue into each other" as per this thread. I had never even heard of it until your thread. So much for "greatest guitar solo ever."

Actually a much better example. They were (I think) released as a medley together.

A few more that rocks stations used to play:

Alan Parsons Project – “Sirius / Eye in the Sky”

Pure Prairie League – “Falling In and Out Of Love / Amie”

Robert Palmer – “Sailing Shoes / Hey Julia / Sneaking Sally Through the Alley”

I am not obsessed. I was told this.

Well you were told wrong, so give it up already. ::) Definitely have not heard it played that way on any Clear Channel station. And they DO play some of the other examples mentioned here.

Here is an example of a couple of songs that segue together, from an old thread of mine:

I don't think I was. Clear Channel can do what they want, apparently.

This is the opposite of what this topic is about, but "Dee Snider's House of Hair" plays a version of "We Will Rock You" without "We Are the Champions". Not Queen.
